How To Choose A Career

A man in life has to struggle hard to meet his/her daily livings. Some people have to struggle hard while some are bit relaxed. But every one of this earth have to struggle to live successfully and respectfully. For this purpose we all are engaged into a profession and have to acquire a path and practical rote to follow and to choose a career to follow.

Normally interest of the individual is clarified during the home activities, discussions with parents, results of academics, practical tasks, approach of analyzing things in day to day life and handling the activities. For example if a child is more creative towards drawing or art work, it shall be arts direction. If a teenager is more inclined towards dismantling the machinery and analyzing its behaviour and develop/design new things, the inclination seems towards engineering. Similarly when a youngster shows greater approach in working/operation of human body and plants, the direction is towards medical.

It is very important and imperative that parents/guardian should encourage him/her on the practical approach that one is adopting according to the interest and will of an individual. One must not be forces to adopt the choice of the parents or guardian. In all the scenarios priority and approach of the child must be given high preference.
A career can be chosen based of the following factors:
• Market demand
• Family business
• Investment and finances
• Switching between careers
• Personal interest
• Field of knowledge
• On hands experience

There are also specialities within a career i.e. in engineering one has to adopt electrical, mechanical, civil engineering sides etc. Further in electrical there are preferences towards telecom, power or electronics. There are also situations in Pakistan when specialities are changed with one career.

It is normally based on market demand and job situations.

In Pakistan interest and career is normally outshined and confirmed when an individual enters into the stage of intermediate education. One has to choose his future career as science (involving pre-engineering or medical) or arts (finance, art work etc.).

Later based on obtained marks he/she get admitted in engineering university or medical college. Else studies in the chosen field can be further continued other than an engineer or a doctor.

In several cases there are different scenarios as well in addition to what has been stated above. It is that based on individual desire, academic results and market trends, the individual also changes the career. For example one has chosen a career in medical at intermediate level. Due to less marks he/she was not successful. Later he/she adopted the engineering path by clearing the mathematics paper (which is a provision in our system).

Hence as chosen the earlier career of medical, he/she adopted the engineering career. There are many such examples vide which the careers have been changed due to one way or the other. Finally we can say that career must be chosen very carefully as it can play a pivotal role because the entire life depends on it.
